Baseball Evaluation New Stat Definitions

Performance Evaluation Value	PEVA (Year)	Yearly comparison grade for each position player and pitcher, using six categories (and sub-categories) to value the overall statistical performance of the player in the year. Compares players against other players performance in a peer to peer era review. Fantastic - (MVP, Cy Young Candidate) - 32.000 Great - 20.000 Very Good (All-Star Caliber) - 15.000 Good - 10.000
Rolling Average Value	RAVE (3 Year)	The rolling average value of a PEVA set of years. Utilized comparing the last three years (50%/30%/20%) versus the three years prior. Fantastic - 32.000 Great - 20.000 Very Good - 15.000 Good - 10.000
	SPRO RAVE	A rolling average value of PEVA over the last four years with higher percentage values for the maximum year and lower percentage values for the minimum year. Utilized with Free Agent service time and EXPEQ players above a certain regular RAVE value.
Field Value	FV	Calculated as the Fielding Value of a Position Player combining the grades of various categories, including Innings or Games Played, Fielding Percentage, Range Factor, Catcher Caught Stealing Percentage, and Outfield Assists per 9 Innings Played (or Games). Peer to peer review per individual season with maximum value given to maximum player and comparative values to players below maximum compared to average levels.
Experience Equivalent Quotient	EXPEQ	A yearly and cumulative value for a player, utilizing Games Played, Innings Pitched, and Plate Appearances compared to number of team games. Used as quotient comparable to Major League Service Time (MLST) in both years prior to MLST and during the period of MLST use. Format of Years.Percentage of Years. EXPEQ is used to calculate SPRO numbers.
Salary Projections	SPRO (Year)	Salary Projections utilizing the Baseball Evaluation decision model statistics. Calculated off of RAVE, SPRO RAVE, EXPEQ, and other comparable statistics.

Existing Baseball Stat Definitions

Baseball Stat	Acronym	Definition
Major League Service Time	MLST	Calculated each year to determine the length of service, years of arbitration, and eligibility for Free Agency. MLST is calculated on a 172 day per year basis in the format of Year.Days. A player may get up to 1.000 years of credit per year. Arbitration begins at 3.000 (with the top % of Super Two players also eligible). Free agency begins at year 6.000.
Games Played	G or GP	The number of games in which a player or pitcher played during the season or career.
Games Started	GS	The number of games a pitcher or player was in the starting lineup.
Innings Pitched	IP	Number of Innings Pitched during the year or career. Format of Innings plus percentage of inning.
Earned Run Average	ERA	The number of earned runs given up per 9 innings pitched.
Walks and Hits per 9 Innings Pitched	WHIP9	Walks plus hits allowed per 9 innings pitched. Often formatted as WHIP (per 1 inning pitched).
Wins	W	Number of wins in a season. Calculated for starting pitcher as leading when leaving the game after at least five innings with the lead maintained until the end of the game. For relief pitcher, predominantly given to the pitcher who is the pitcher in the game when the winning run is scored.
Save	SV	Number of saves in a season. Statistic given to a relief pitcher who finishes a game after entering with a lead of no more than three runs, pitching with the winning run on deck, or pitching three innings, and maintaining the lead.
Strikeout to Walk Ratio	SO/W RATIO	Calculated as Strikeouts Divided by Walks.
Home Runs Per 9 Innings Pitched Ratio	HR9IP RATIO	The number of Home Runs given up by a pitcher per 9 Innings Pitched.
Plate Appearances	PA	The total number of plate appearances during a season or career by a batter. Includes At Bats, Walks, Hit By Pitch, Sacrifice Fly, and Sacrifices.
Run Production	RP	The number of Runs Scored and Runs Batted In during a season.
Slugging Percentage	SLG	The percentage of Total Bases to At Bats.
On Base Percentage	OBP	The percentage of Hits plus Walks to Plate Appearances.
Park Factor	PF	Adjusting factor for the park played in, comparing statistics of the home and away performances of a team. Can be compiled utilizing various different factors. Baseball Evaluation uses the Park Factors (3 Year Adjusted, if Available) from the Sean Lahman Database & Baseball Databank.
